TECHWAVE'S BUYSOFTWARE NETWORK DOUBLES IN SIZE IN UNDER THREE MONTHS

More Than 6,000 Online Merchants Strong, The BuySoftware Network Continues Its Phenomenal Growth

SEATTLE, Wash., October 26, 1998- TechWave, a leading electronic commerce service provider, today announced that more than 6,000 merchants are part of its BuySoftware Network, which has effectively doubled in size since August of 1998. The BuySoftware Network consist of a diverse group of online storefronts built and hosted by TechWave and operated on third party partner sites. These partners include major Internet sites like Yahoo!, EarthLink, and TalkCity as well as thousands of Internet community sites, vertical market sites, online retail sites, and shopping portals.

TechWave's BuySoftware Network consists primarily of computer product superstores. TechWave has developed different programs to meet the different needs of its partners. For less than $100, anyone can open their own PersonalStoreä that comes fully stocked with more than 30,000 software titles at competitive prices. For business or Internet community web sites, TechWave developed a more robust solution called the BusinessStoreä, that provides its partners with higher profit margins and the ability to resell more than 100,000 hardware, software, and peripheral products.

TechWave's PersonalStore merchant partners can effectively resell brand name software products or purchase software directly from their own store for personal use. PersonalStore partners are also enabled to resell both ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) and shrink wrapped products and can earn up to 10% on every product sold through their store.

"Offerings such as TechWave's PersonalStore program remove barriers to entry and create opportunities for companies of any size to become online merchants," said Steven Robins, Internet Computing Strategies Analyst for the Yankee Group. "The program is a clear example of why we anticipate that by the year 2000 electronic commerce could account for more than $170 billion worth of business products alone to be sold in cyberspace."

"TechWave's BuySoftware Network represents one of the Internet's fastest growing online distribution channels," said Dwayne Walker, president and CEO of TechWave Inc. "Whether you are a product manufacturer, reseller, or retailer, TechWave's growing network of online storefronts affords greater penetration into a growing community of online buyers. And with our TechWave CommerceTrust technology behind all of our services, our merchant partners can rest assured that their storefronts will operate worry-free."
