KFC CELEBRATES SAUCINESS WITH INTRODUCTION OF NEW HONEY BBQ-FLAVORED TENDER ROAST® CHICKEN

LOUISVILLE, February 25, 1997 - KFC is celebrating the "sauciness"of its new Honey BBQ Tender Roast® chicken by asking American's to identify the country's "sauciest" celebrities. Respondents were asked to rank talk-show hosts, TV stars, politicians, musicians, professional athletes and comedians.

Jack Nicholson reigns as America's "sauciest" celebrity with 22.3 percent of the votes, closely followed by singer and new mom, Madonna (20.3 percent), according to the independent survey conducted on behalf of Kentucky Fried Chicken's New Honey BBQ Tender Roast. National TV advertising for the new chicken product began yesterday.

"We know a lot of people will feel quite saucy after eating our new Honey BBQ Tender Roast chicken," said Randy Gier, KFC's senior vice president-marketing. "But we didn't know who America's choice for the 'sauciest' celebrity would be. So we conducted this tongue-in-cheek survey."

THE KFC SAUCY SURVEY SAYS! . . . .

BBQ ANYONE?

If people could share a BBQ chicken dinner with any famous person, who would they choose? Most chose Michael Jordon (20.4 percent) from the list of candidates, followed by President Clinton (16.5 percent) and Tom Cruise (12.2 percent.)

THAT'S SAUCY!

The KFC survey found that Americans prefer BBQ sauce on their chicken (49.9 percent) twice as often as on pork (25.8 percent) and three times more preferred than on beef (18.4 percent). And nine out of ten people (89.6 percent) say that taste is the best reason for putting BBQ sauce on chicken.
