KFC'S LATEST TV AD CAMPAIGN HAS GONE TO THE DOGS!

Canine TV Star barks it up in KFC's Ad Targeted at Football Bowl Fans

Louisville, Ky. -- KFC's newest ad has gone to the dogs -- literally! Moose, the popular sitcom pooch known for his antagonistic relationship with his TV psychiatrist co-star, is featured in KFC's latest TV advertisement. Slated to break Dec. 28, the ad features the Super Mix and Match bucket targeted at hungry football fans watching bowl games this holiday season.

The ad features a mischievous Moose stealing his owner's bowl game tickets and burying them in the backyard in hopes his owner will stay home for the big game and give Moose a piece from his KFC Mix & Match bucket. The ad promotes the specially priced $10.99 bucket that allows consumers to mix and match KFC's three different kinds of chicken by the piece -- Original Recipe®, Extra Tasty CrispyTM, and Tender Roast®.. The ad ends with KFC's musical tag line "Everybody needs a little KFC®," as the owner feasts on KFC chicken while Moose shows his famous stare in hopes of getting a taste.

KFC is focusing on "Bowl Season" to support sales during this peak time of year, especially Super Bowl Sunday, one of its biggest sales days of the year. Sales increase 10 to 12 percent over a typical Sunday. "Football parties are a great place to serve KFC," said Randy Gier, senior vice president, marketing, KFC Corporation. "And with the Super Mix and Match bucket, football fans can have chicken any way they like it, and get it all in just one bucket."

The advertisement, created and produced by Young & Rubicam/New York, consists of one 30-second and one 15-second spot. Shooting took place over a weekend, which is unusual, to accommodate Moose's busy schedule. "Moose is the hardest working dog in show business," said Gier.

Moose's career began when a talent scout urged him to audition for the starring role in Universal Studio's "Animal Actors' Showcase." He won the part and found immediate recognition, propelling him to the starring role as everyone's favorite TV pet. Today, his little face is familiar in almost every household in America. But, despite his illustrious career, the 4-year-old canine still finds time for his lovely wife, Molly, and their three puppies.

Moose also supports charitable organizations, especially those dealing with animal rights. So in the spirit of the holiday season and its recent partnership with Moose, KFC is contributing $1,000 to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Moose's "pet" charity. Gier said, "We wanted to give something back to the animal community as a way of thanking Moose for his wonderful contribution to our advertisement."
